We are looking to hire a Safety Manager to join our company in our Corona, California location.

General Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Regional Safety Manager, the Corona Division Safety Manager will be responsible for managing the safety and environmental program for Civil Underground Construction. The position provides safety support and guidance to the Division’s Management Team, Supervisors, Foremen and Field Employees by effective application of their leadership, training, administration, and coordination of project safety requirements per Arizona Pipeline Company (APC), our customers, and applicable regulatory safety directives and standards.
$90,000 – $115,000 annually DOE.

Responsibilities:

  •  Supervise and provide effective leadership to the 6 direct reports (one Safety Specialist, four Safety Coordinators, and one Environmental Specialist) making up the Corona Division Safety and Environmental Team.
  • Be a visible presence in the field, performing jobsite visits and crew safety audits. Provide corrective actions and guidance when necessary.
  • Conduct all-hand safety meetings as required.
  • Leverage SMS capabilities to perform data analysis assessing KPIs and identifying trends.
  • Lead and participate in working groups assigned to assess incidents for the purposes of identifying root cause, developing effective corrective actions, implementing those actions, and supervising effectiveness as necessary.
  • Respond to, investigate, and provide thorough and detailed reports for any safety issue/incident that may occur. Understand and implement client notification processes and provide necessary client specific written reports for incidents/accidents in the timeframes set by our customers.
  • Review safety requirements of our customers and ensure they are carried out per APC policies and communicated to the Management Team and Field Crews.
  • Provide instruction and track safety training, to include new hire orientation, annual safety training, specialty skills training, etc.
  • Be familiar with and regularly review all applicable safety legislation and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Inform management and supervision of any new or conflictive safety legislative requirements that could impact APC operations. Provide guidance to the management team on how to implement these new legislative requirements.
  • Develop and brief crews on Site Safety Management Plans for larger projects to ensure a safe work environment for all company employees, contractors, visitors, and the community.
  • Prepare for and participate in safety audits performed by governmental agencies and our customers.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience leading safety programs required. The experience can be from other than a dedicated safety professional (e.g., General Foreman, Foreman, or Instructors/Trainers). Applicants are required to be knowledgeable of safety requirements and have the ability to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Safety certification(s) are preferred (e.g., CUSP, CHST, etc.).
  • Must have completed OSHA 510. Current OSHA 500 certification is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of trenching and excavation, shoring requirements and implementation, enclosed space entry, and construction safety requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the civil underground construction side of electrical power transmission and distribution work.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient in public speaking and presentations.
  • Proficient with MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) and Safety Management Systems (HCSS, ISNetworld, etc.).

We are looking to hire a Safety Manager to join our company in Las Vegas, Nevada.


General Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Compliance Director, the Las Vegas Division Safety Manager will be responsible for managing the safety program for underground utility construction. The position provides safety support and guidance to the Division’s Management Team, Supervisors, Foremen and Field Employees by effective application of their leadership, training, administration, and coordination of project safety requirements per Arizona Pipeline Company (APC), our customers and regulatory safety directives and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support by maintaining a visible presence to the field performing JSI’s (Jobsite Safety Inspections). Provide corrective actions and guidance when required. Inspections are documented electronically.
  • Provide and track safety training, to include new hire orientation, annual safety training, specialty skills training, etc.
  • Perform data analysis to identify KPI’s and trends.
  • Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of APC and customer safety requirements.
  • Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance.
  • Inform the project management team and supervision of any new or conflictive legislative matters that could impact the company or division.
  • Develop and brief crews on Site Safety Management Plan (SMP) for large projects to ensure a safe work environment for all company employees, contractors, visitors, and community.
  • Conduct monthly all-hand safety meetings.
  • Respond to, investigate, and provide detailed reports for any safety issue/incident that may occur.
  • Assess incidents to determine root cause, develop effective corrective actions, implement those actions, and supervise effectiveness as necessary.
  • Conduct a new hire safety orientation for all incoming employees. Perform hands-on exercises with incoming new hire employees.
  • Ensure safety boards with postings including but not limited to: Health and Safety policy, inspection and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid, etc. are maintained and current.
  • Prepare for and participate in audits.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years Safety Management experience, 3 years as Field Auditor/Safety Supervisor.
  • Safety certification(s) are preferred (e.g., OSHA, First Aid Instructor etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Trenching and Excavation safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral. (bi-lingual is a plus)
  • A valid driver’s license and a clear driving record (past 3 years) are required.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Highly proficient in public speaking and presentations.
  • Good computer skills required.
    o PC and Apple (IOS)
    o Proficient with MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) and Safety Management Systems.
  • Some travel may be required depending upon the project location.
