Derek Sexton
Division Manager
Derek Sexton started his career in the natural gas industry in 2001, starting in the warehouse and learning the trade from the ground up. Those early years built a strong foundation and shaped my belief that lasting success comes from understanding every part of the operation. Derek moved into the field early on and progressed through hands-on roles including plastic fitter and plastic foreman, gaining firsthand experience in the work that drives our industry forward.
As Dereks career advanced, He took on expanding responsibilities across operations, serving as a foreman, fitter, operator, and later as a welding foreman. Each role broadened his perspective and deepened his understanding of how safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork intersect. Derek also spent time in safety leadership, where he developed a strong appreciation for building systems and cultures that protect people while supporting efficient, reliable execution.
His path continued into senior leadership, including Superintendent, General Superintendent, Interim Area Manager, Division Manager, and ultimately Vice President. Having progressed through nearly every position in the natural gas field, Derek brings a complete view of the industry, from field-level execution to strategic planning and long-term growth. This experience allows me to lead with clarity, anticipate challenges, and make decisions that support both our people and our customers.
Throughout his career, Dereks work has focused entirely on the natural gas industry, supporting major utility partners such as Southern California Gas (SCG) and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). His approach to leadership is rooted in experience, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement, with a focus on building strong teams and sustainable operations for the future.
Outside of work, Derek values time with friends and family and enjoy being outdoors. In his free time, Derek enjoys camping, off-road activities, and spending time at the river during the hotter months, boating and recharging whenever possible.
